For starters, you need to get stuff in to Evernote. Only then can you refer to it later. I left out many features in my review, including its text recognition capabilities, which are great if you scan business cards, documents, or even hand-written notes. Once in Evernote, you can then search for text in those documents, so Evernote can easily replace your Rolodex. I also use it to cut down on paper by scanning bank statements and other papers and storing them in Evernote instead of keeping the originals.

Try using the web clipper or Clearly for saving articles for later reading.

If you spend any time reading long-format websites (e.g., blogs, magazines, etc.) check out Evernote Clearly for Firefox and see what it's like to use it.

I also didn't write about Evernote Hello - an app for handling introductions to people for mobile devices - or Evernote Food - an app designed especially for tracking all things food-related (which I find very useful when dieting).

Hi Peter---

Thank you for responding to my blog post. I think it depends on who you are calling whether or not you leave a message. I personally delete sales calls from people I do not know, and I think a lot of people are like me. But 9 out of 10 ain't bad. I'll take that.

To your business success.

The more I've thought about it over the last few years, the more I am convinced that the privacy battle is lost. I think that those of us that are protecting data by trying to keep it out of the hands of others are rapidly coming to a dead end.

I think that, instead, the meaning of the term "privacy" is going to shift from referring to having control of personal information to having control over the access to that information. In other words, the data is out there, and there's no getting it back under control. However, I don't care (hypothetically) if my social security and credit card numbers are floating out on the Internet. I care if they are used for nefarious purposes.

Similarly, I don't care if Google gets my DNS data. After all, they already have my search data and some of my email data. Instead, I would be worried if they used it to do me harm. Thus far, I see indication that Google is going to do this or, in fact, has done anything like this in the past.

Hey Peter,

I agree totally with your philosophy, however, my document default is a .docx and I always have to tell it to save as a .doc. I can't get it to default. Likewise, I HATE the fact that 2007 documents default with double spacing or wider spacing than single. I thought there was a way to set the default as a 2003 document but that too, doesn't seem to stick!! Aahhh chalk it up to improved technology....oh and don't let me forget how much SLOWER it runs too!! Thanks for letting me vent.
